Race Time Predictor
Enter a known race result to predict your finishing times at other distances using the Riegel formula.
How Race Prediction Works
The Riegel formula is the most widely used race prediction model. It assumes that as race distance increases, your average pace slows in a predictable way. The formula is: T2 = T1 × (D2/D1)^1.06, where T1 is your known time, D1 is your known distance, D2 is the target distance, and T2 is the predicted time. The exponent 1.06 reflects the average fatigue factor across all runners.
Practical Examples
5K in 20:00: Predicts a 10K of 41:29, half marathon of 1:31:33, and marathon of 3:11:11.
10K in 45:00: Predicts a half marathon of 1:39:36 and marathon of 3:27:38.
Half marathon in 1:45:00: Predicts a marathon of 3:40:07.
