Running Pace Calculator

Calculate your pace per km and mile, view split times, and predict race performances.

What Is Running Pace?

Running pace is the time it takes to cover a specific distance, usually expressed as minutes per kilometer or minutes per mile. It is the most common way runners measure and communicate their running speed. Knowing your pace helps you plan training sessions, set race goals, and track improvement over time.

How This Calculator Works

Enter your distance and finishing time, and the calculator instantly computes your pace per kilometer and per mile. It also generates even split times showing your target time at each distance marker. Race predictions use the Riegel formula to estimate your potential finishing times at standard race distances based on your current fitness level.

Practical Examples

Example 1: You run 5 km in 25:00. Your pace is 5:00/km (8:03/mi). The calculator predicts a 10K time of about 51:54 and a half marathon of about 1:54:29.

Example 2: You run 10 km in 45:00. Your pace is 4:30/km (7:14/mi). This projects to a half marathon of about 1:39:36 and a marathon of about 3:27:38.

Example 3: You run a marathon in 3:30:00. Your pace is 4:58/km (8:00/mi).
